1. The set-up
If you're going lavish and have the space for it, invest in a vintage drinks-trolley. Not only do they embody the lavish bar vibes, they are also super practical as they can be moved in and out of spaces to suit your needs.

If you're a little more squeezed for space, consider looking for a nice tray and re-purpose any countertop space or side tables you have.

2. The kit
Start with the basics: a shaker and strainer, measuring jigger and muddler for mashing ingredients. All the other frills can be added later.

3. The glassware
Think about what drinks you enjoy to work out what glassware to invest in, as they do take up a lot of space. If you enjoy the stronger spirits over ice, then you'll want to go for some lowballs. More into the shaken, not stirred? Coupes are for you and highballs are great for longer drinks like Gin and Tonic.

4. Stock the goodies
There's a lot of waste in the beverage industry. A range of eco-conscious drinks brands are popping up that strive to reduce their footprint, whether through their packaging, the ingredients used or the manufacturing process.
Do some research into brands of spirits that are more sustainable to stock your new bar with to help you on your way to making more conscious cocktails.
